Right now SciDAVis only supports the "Direct" method to convert a table to a matrix (column = column, row = row)
There are other methods neccessary to be able to create 3D plots easily.
In Qtiplot and Origin there methods are called "Regular XYZ", "Sparse XYZ" or "Random XYZ".
Another nice feature could be to create 3D plots (e.g. surface plots) directly from a table.
This is a relative new feature in Origin, it is called "virtual matrix".
It takes e.g. the first column and the first row as the x and y values and the other values as z for a 3D plot.
This feature really rocks!
Since matrix conversions are often made only to plot 3D graphs this could be a shortcut.
