Hi, I was wondering when SciDAVis will be compiled with Qt5. Is there a timeframe for that? From the documentation I presume that it is still based on Qt4.
    Thanks

There is no timeframe for this. It is a large task, and probably at
about a 3urgent level of priority.

The problem is that there are about 3 1fatal issues to resolve which
take higher priority. The other is that I think we need to port to
qwt6 before porting to qt5. I have made a start.

But yes - its definitely on the radar, but because of lack resource,
has an indefinite timeframe. Of course you're welcome to pitch in and
      start doing the port yourself!

      Cheers

    Any news on this score?

What news were you looking for? I started adding the qwt5_qt5 package
to my OBS repo, but it is currently only building for about half the
repos. That's as far as I got...

I'm still progressing with the boost::python conversion, which is a
      prerequisite to moving to qwt6.

It is possible to build SciDAVis 1.25 using Qt5, but, as Russell pointed out, this requires qwt5 and qwtplot3d built against Qt5 too. See:

      https://github.com/highperformancecoder/scidavis/pull/96

      https://github.com/highperformancecoder/scidavis/pull/97

Some people reported that this is working (fine?)!

Most distributions (probably all them) will not add to their repositories a qwt5 version patched to build against Qt5 (the qwt5_qt5 package mentioned by Russell). Then a complete move from Qt4 to Qt5 will have to wait some time.

SciDAVis is evolving as fast as possible with the resources available. IMHO, this is good, and enough to keep attracting new users. The problem is that people don't see the hard work being done behind the scenes, mainly by Miquel and Russell - they see only the releases.
