OpenPegasus allows authentication w/o credentials for
client connections initiated from localhost. Currently
the SBLIM CIM Client doesn't support this.
This proposal is to make a plugable authentication
interface and supply standard http and OpenPegaus
authentication plugins. This way the authentication
mechanism can be easily extended in future versions.
This is a IBM Director requirement.

Code is completed, but doesn't work. Following up with
Heather to track down the problem.

Heather is still investigating the problem. Looks like our
implementation is correct, but Pegasus doesn't like our HTTP
header nevetheless.
If we don't get a solution during the next week, this
feature will slip to 1.3.2 (1Q07).

I've attached a patch for 1.3.1. It contains a pluggable authentication module interface as well as a module for http basic/digest authentication and a module for OpenPegasus local authentication. Unfortunately the OpenPegasus module doesn't work yet ... the header is correct but Pegasus doesn't like it nevertheless. In order to get the pluggable module stuff in I decided to integrate now. Looks like the Pegasus problem determination takes long time, so we will split this in another defect.
