Hello Folks, I've installed SBCL 0.9.3 and SLIME 1.2.1 on my linux box. When launching 'M-x slime' from emacs, I'm being thrown into debugger mode SB-FASL::FASL-HEADER-MISSING in thread {9004389} File "~/.slime/fasl/sbcl-0.9.3-linux-x86/swank-sbcl.fasl" has fasl file type, but no fasl header: Expected "# FASL", but got #(0 0 0 0 0 0). In the SLIME README there is a mention 'SBCL versions from 0.8.15 to 0.8.21 should work. Newer SBCL versions may or may not work. Don't use multithreading with 2.4 kernels.' I'm running kernel 2.6.4-52-default on SuSE 9.1. On the resource page there is no pointer to older binaries of SBCL for Linux platform. Is there a workaround for integrating the two platforms SBCL and SLIME? Or should I try another implementation of Common Lisp? In my ~/.slime/fasl/sbcl-0.9.3-linux-x86/ directory I see a 0 byte file 'swank-sbcl.fasl'. Any suggestions would be welcome. Sincerely, kadee (__)___________ (oo) \ (..)| | \ ||------uu|| * || || -- -- |

If there's no particular reason for you to use slime-1.2.1, I would recommend using SLIME's CVS HEAD, which works fine for me. (SLIME's release policy isn't terribly proactive, I believe; however, the SBCL developers attempt to make sure that SLIME CVS works with the last two releases of SBCL where possible -- but there's no way in general for SBCL developers to be able to support old slimes. Cheers, Christophe |

Use the SLIME in CVS. The SLIME 1.2.1 tarball is quite old (months! ;-) and doesn't incorporate some changes required to track corresponding changes on the SBCL side. Instructions for downloading SLIME from CVS can be found on the SLIME web site. -- Dave On Sat, 2005-08-27 at 10:32 -0700, Arkady Andrukonis wrote: > Hello Folks, > > I've installed SBCL 0.9.3 and SLIME 1.2.1 on my linux > box.
