A largish CLOS thread-safety patch was merged as 188.8.131.52, which
should resolve a number of issues.
Most notably, DEFCLASS and ENSURE-CLASS-USING-CLASS are now expected
to be thread-safe.
Please report any problems, including performance regressions.
(Threaded test failures on platforms where they used to occur are
still expected: this patch should not affect any issues already
covered by the test suite.)

There are still a few holes to plug for the MAKE-INSTANCE route to be
thread safe, sorry.
