I'm serving a couple of web applications with sbcl. But now I need
more heap size. I downloaded sbcl 0.9.18 source, changed
dynamic-space-end from #x29000000 to #x49000000 in
src/compiler/x86/parms.lisp but now I am unable to compile contribs.
mmap: wanted 1073741824 bytes at #x09000000 ...
ensure_space: failed to validate 1073741824 bytes at #x09000000
How can I get 1 GB or more of heap size?

You don't mention which OS you are on, but try getting the latest
CVS, then you should be able to run SBCL as eg:
sbcl --dynamic-space-size 1024
to get 1GB of heap -- assuming your OS hasn't mapped something else where
SBCL want to put the dynamic space. (SBCL is not yet able to relocate
the space elsewhere, but will soon.)
