From the SF download pages, it seems that 0.7.5 has a Sparc/Solaris
binary, whilst 0.7.6 doesn't. If there's any interest in binaries of
0.7.6 for said platform, I'd be happy to make the one I'm now building
from 0.7.5 available [*]. Apologies if I've missed a build-policy
document somewhere, and also if this is hopelessly off topic for this
[*] Assuming it finishes and works... :)

Last time I looked at this it seemed to be a problem with the linker.
If you want to continue going down this route, you will want to compile
with :sb-ldb on your *features*, to give you useful information like a
backtrace from the crash. To do this, create a
customize-target-features.lisp file in the toplevel directory containing
--- cut here ---
(lambda (list) (list* :sb-ldb list))
--- cut here ---
:sb-show can be another useful means of debugging, but I can't remember
whether it works "properly" on the sparc (it does nasty things to the
stack under certain circumstances).
