Hi. I see that when dealing with fixnums only, if I do: (let ((middle (floor (+ start end) 2)) ... SBCL will not complain when I compile the function, even though I declared (speed 3) (safety 0). So I really don't need to use "the" here, is that right? (let ((middle (floor (the fixnum (+ start end)) 2)) ... Or should I use it if I want to optimize the code? Thanks, J. |
