You shouldn't dismiss failures so easily. You can get back to your
problem if you do (declaim (optimize safety)) before compiling LLA.
Okay, I'm impressed that you went to the trouble to build the package and all.
I've had "(declaim (optimize (safety 3) (speed 3))" in my code for a while, but maybe LLA was compiled when I had some other settings. That might explain why reinstalling SBCL (and forcing a compile?) changed things.
I don't know that LLA is getting any support any more (we'll see) but at least now that you've pointed me in the right direction I can correct my local copy.
