IF I WERE YOU, I WOULDN'T EXPECT THIS SOFTWARE TO BE UPDATED unless you are a developer willing to take on the task (which would be neat). Adam Bunter did not post on this forum since 2003 and has not updated his site (http://www.datafurnace.net.au/sayzme/html/home.html) since 2005.

This being said, Sayz Me does a pretty cool job and is a great alternative for the everyday user like me. It's much more user-friendly than the open-source MBROLA stuff (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mbrola), which I tried to run on my computer for some time before giving up. However, Sayz Me has some major gaps, one of them being the program not running properly with other languages than English and another being the lack of a recording feature.

If you are looking for a full-featured Text-to-speech program, there is TextAloud, which is around 25 or 50 American dollars. But if you are looking for a free alternative, I recommend yRead (http://members.iinet.net.au/~simonh/spacejock/yRead.html), which is free as in free-beer (maybe it's open-source, but I don't think so). It doesn't do all the stuff TextAloud does, but it is still pretty cool.

Anyways, if a developer is interested in developing this software, I might be willing to translate it.
