Subject: [saxon] help parsing Chinese

I have inheirited a process that uses SAXON to parse an XML file and write out a fixed length text file. I have been told that the file will soon start to contain Simplified Chinese characters. I have received a test file and when the parser runs it writes out 3 bytes for each of the Chinese characters which causes all of the other character to be shifted out of place. The output encoding on the XSL is UTF-8.

I really don't know much of anything about XML or the parser, so I would appreciate any advice.
