Sure. There's a section called "Extensibility" on the page http://saxon.sourceforge.net/saxon7.9.1/using-xquery.html (unfortunately omitted from the table of contents), which in turn points you to http://saxon.sourceforge.net/saxon7.9.1/extensibility.html#Writing-extension-functions (which is a bit XSLT-oriented, but basically applies equally to XQuery).

I am just wondering if Saxon supports java exteranl function in XQuery?  If it does, is there an example somewhere I can take a look?
