If you're asking how do you invoke saxon from the command-line without the need for instant saxon and the MS JVM, then this will do it:

        java -cp saxon.jar com.icl.saxon.WinStyleSheet t.xml t.xslt

The params after "com.icl.saxon.WinStyleSheet" correspond to the params you'd supply to instant saxon.  E.g. to redirect the output to a file, and pass in a parameter, you'd do something like this:

        java -cp saxon.jar com.icl.saxon.WinStyleSheet -o output.xml t.xml t.xslt myparam="hello"

We invoke saxon this way as it not only eliminates the need to ensure the MS JVM is installed on the client's machine, but also the Sun's JVM is much faster.

If you want to use JDK 1.4 (and I recommend it), you need to download
the full Saxon product. Instant Saxon is built as a Windows executable
using the Microsoft Java SDK.
