Strange that this should happen suddenly; this kind of problem is normally encountered only when people first try to get their installation working.

The obvious question is, where is the license file actually stored?

This error means that the java call File.exists() on the specified filename returned false. Any problem with the actual content of the license file would give a different error.

Subject: [saxon] license file saxon-license.xml not found

Hi,

We already have Saxon 8.7.3 running on our system for more then a year. Till a few days ago, we had no problems at all, but that changed Tuesday.

When running 'validate', I got following message

license file saxon-license.xml not found
java.lang.RuntimeException: Error: license file saxon-license.xml not found. Tried in C:\Documents and Settings\dev_ethaens\My Documents\My Downloads\Saxon\Saxo
n88\bin/saxon-license.xml and in C:\Documents and Settings\dev_ethaens\My Documents\My Downloads\Saxon\Saxon88\saxon-license.xml

uments\My Downloads\Saxon\Saxon88\saxon-license.xml

I can only assume something is missing or not configured correctly anymore, but I don't know what this could be.

The .NET framework 1.1 and related SDK are installed; the PATH and SAXON_HOME variables are containing the correct values...

Question(s): what can cause this kind of error, what can we check furthermore?
