Using Saxon-B 8.6.1 with java version "1.5.0_06", the
following XQuery :

declare default collation
'http://saxon.sf.net/collation?lang=fr-FR;strength=primary';
let $test :=
<test><node>télé</node></test>
return (
{$test[node = "tele"]},
{$test[contains(node, "tele")]}
)

... returns .

Isn't :

<node>télé</node>

<node>télé</node>

... expected ?

    You need to add

    xquery version "1.0" encoding "iso-8859-1";

    to the start of your query: without this, Saxon assumes it
    is encoded in UTF-8.

    Please don't enter suspected bugs in this tracker: as
    indicated in highlighted text on the front page, I prefer to
    keep it for confirmed bugs only, because it makes searching
    more reliable. Please report suspected bugs in the
    saxon-help list or forum.
