There's a new 13 August SaVi interim code drop at:
The major new feature is support for keyboard accelerators (menu shortcuts). These work fine on Windows (Insight Cygwin Tcl) and Linux...
...but on the Mac - good old Mac Tk (I'm using 8.5.7 under 10.6.4) freezes when an accelerator key is pressed (unless the -redrawn-menus flag is passed when launching SaVi; that was a workaround for Mac Tcl top-of-screen menus not even working at all on 10.5) so Mac support of keyboard shortcuts is currently disabled - unless -redrawn-menus is used to give a less Mac-like experience, where they mysteriously work. The related code is in tcl/utils.tcl:build_Menu. If this really _is_ a Tk problem, it might be fixed in Mac OS X 10.7?
In other news:
The problem with Cygwin's X server falling over when geomview uses opengl has been diagnosed:
but as hardware acceleration is still not there, geomview with opengl remains a flickery mess under Cygwin and -noopengl is necessary (even though compiling with opengl is so easy) in order to use geomview reliably there.
Being crossplatform is always work.
