well, if you create a varchar(4000) column, and drop it, the space will
not be freed - that means that if you try to reate a new varchar(4000)
column, you will exceed the row-length-limit of 8KB.
somehow SAPDB can be told to reorganize the rows of the table to free
the wasted space.
