SAGA 2.0 - Release Candidate 1
Dear SAGA users,
we want to thank you for the numerous feedback we got from
you. Though we have not that much time to invest in the SAGA
development, many bug fixes, feature requests and source
code contributions could be applied and led to the now
coming Release Candidate 1. Four archive files have been
prepared for download:
'saga_2.0_rc1_bin_mswvc.zip': Windows binaries compiled
with MS Developer Studio 6.0.
'saga_2.0_rc1_bin_linux.tar.gz': Linux binaries with the
wxGTK libraries statically linked.
'saga_2.0_rc1_src.zip': all SAGA 2.0 source codes, ready
to be compiled with MinGW, VC++6.0 or VC++2005.
'saga_2.0_rc1_bin_linux.tar.gz': special source code
distribution for Linux.
Thanks to Thomas Schorr, the last archive contains files for
the automated compilation and installation of SAGA under
Linux operating systems. After downloading and
uncompressing, go to the folder, where you have extracted
the archive. The installation process then looks like this:
...and execute SAGA:
$ saga_gui &
The 'configure' file is still rudimentary and does not check
for necessary libraries, which are:
- wxGTK 2.6 (http://www.wxwidgets.org)
- GDAL (http://www.gdal.org)
- PROJ.4 (http://www.remotesensing.org/proj/)
Linux experienced users are invited to improve the
installation files and to package SAGA for the various Linux
Developers might appreciate that SAGA's source codes are now
also available via CVS hosted by SourceForge. If you want to
find out more about SAGA and its applications, it is still
possible to participate at the 1st International SAGA User
Conference, which will take place at July 6, 2006, at the
'Conference and Exhibition on Applied Geoinformatics' AGIT
in Salzburg, Austria.
And now I wish you a lot of fun using SAGA 2.0.
