The license of Firelib is not free. It restricts commercial use and is definitely not public domain.

You could try to ask the developers, if they'd re-license it under the terms of the GPL -- especially they deprecated it and switched to Fire Behavior Software Developer Kit.

If there already is such an agreement, please document it.

  • Since you seem to ask this for packaging in Fedora, and I also need this while packaging for debian: I will add an option:
    --disable-non-free
    to configure. This should disable all non-free (according to the OSI guidelines) parts of saga without having to patch the automake/autoconf files.

  • Johan, are you still pursuing this? I'm about to make a draft 2.1.0 and I noticed it's not in.
