Hi Max,
when it comes to tagging I'm somewhat of a completionist or perfectionist, I have to admit. Something that has been bugging me forever is that tags of different layers are not linked. I'll explain. On an SACD that has MC and SC layers, I usually only listen to one of those layers at a time. When I tag a track of a specific layer while listening, I will have to tag it in the other layer as well for it to be useful in future playlists. How awesome would it be if that tag could be written to both layers simultanously?! I guess this makes most sense for rating, mood and probably track names. I like put in MC or SC after the album name so I'd prefer to leave that out. Maybe some folks also name their tracks this way.
If this would be possible at all it would probably incur a rewrite of the SACD metabase and incompatibility with the current format. As far as I can tell, right now tracks of a SACD are tagged from top to bottom with no recognition of what each track is or how they are related to each other. Nevertheless, the decoder seems to be able to differentiate between layers so maybe, just maybe, this is feasible.

I've made it in this way: plugin saves edited track's tags in both zones when "Linked 2CH/MCH Tags" box is checked.
Great, thanks! Is this possible for the DVDA-decoder as well?
Hang on, I've opened Pandora's box here... it also replicates Replaygain and Dynamic Range values, although those will always be different between layers. We need the possibility to exclude tags :)
Sorry, I missed that. Ok, it's possible for DVD-A plugin but shall we fix this issue on SACD plugin first?
Am I closing boxes? :)
Replaygain is unlinked now. Dynamic Range Meter values still linked. The tag fields in question are
ALBUM DYNAMIC RANGE
DYNAMIC RANGE
Also, personally I like to have different album titles according to layer like so
Johnny Hallyday (SACD 2.0)
Johnny Hallyday (SACD 5.1)
but I guess this might be strecthing it too far. I can probably achieving this by using playlist formatting.

But how to decide what meta tags are copyable and what are not? I can make linked only "standart" tags (ALBUM, ARTIST, etc.).
I understand. It's probably best to just exclude replaygain, ALBUM DYNAMIC RANGE and DYNAMIC RANGE. Otherwise other users might complain and the idea becomes too complex to manage. Thanks!
If you could find the time to exclude ALBUM DYNAMIC RANGE and DYNAMIC RANGE, then I'd be happy on my end. Thanks!
I tried. Is there any luck?
It works, thanks!
