I'm a java developer and even I cannot get RSSOwl to start.
"Could not start RSSOwl, Please read Install.txt"

I read that text file and it did not help. My Java 1.5 is installed correctly, and Java_Home is set correctly.

I've copied the DLL to \windows\system32 and java_home\bin, but I get the following error on teh command line
xception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no swt-win32-3116 in java.library.path
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.Runtime.loadLibrary0(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.System.loadLibrary(Unknown Source)
    at org.eclipse.swt.internal.Library.loadLibrary(Library.java:100)
    at org.eclipse.swt.internal.win32.OS.<clinit>(OS.java:18)
    at org.eclipse.swt.graphics.Device.init(Device.java:563)

I strongly suggest removing the EXE file which does not work and replace it with simple startup scripts.

Also Whats the point in using Java if the SWT DLL negates much of its plusses

    thanks

    • Please try to execute "java -jar rssowl.jar" from the directory RSSOwl was installed to. Do not move any files (the DLL) out of the directory, its required in there.

The rssowl.exe is working with no problems, the problem must be at a different location.

Using SWT requires a DLL on windows, since the GUI is using native widgets.

      Ben

Yes thats what I ended up using

      Shortcut:
      Target: C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe -jar rssowl.jar
      Start in: "C:\Program Files\RSSOwl"

The EXE still does not work for me.
