    Hi again

    I'm using RSSOwl on Ubuntu 10.10 amd64 and i noticed that RSSOwl does not
    close IPv6 connections. Since my router does not support IPv6, the connections
    will fail. Tools like Net Activity Viewer
    (http://netactview.sourceforge.net,
    similar to TCPView on Windows) report open connections from RSSOwl to all the
    servers i have feeds from. The state of connection is reported as
    "CLOSE_WAIT".

    For RSS feed from computerbase.de Net Activity Viewer shows:

    Protocol – Local port – State – Remote Address – Remote Port – Remote Host –
    PID – Program

    tcp6 40918 CLOSE_WAIT ::ffff:87.230.75.2 80 www www.computerbase.de 3758 java

    These IPv6 Connections do not close, even 10 minutes after the last feed was
    fetched. The IPv6 connections do close as they should (when fetching completed
    or after ~5 seconds default timeout)

  • Sorry, no idea. I am not doing something special in RSSOwl. Maybe the
    HttpClient lib I am using is old. Updating to the most recent Java might also
    help.

    I updated Java to version 6.24 but this didn't change anything. Maybe I try
    using openJDK…

    Not using "default" HTTPConnection?

  • I am using HttpClient, not Java URLConnection.
