It would be really great to use RSSOwl's organisational, storage and indexing
features with Twitter. Supporting OAuth to access twitter RSS feeds would be a
first step, but how about using Twitter's streaming API and giving RSSOwl the
power to become something of a Twitter client too?
Twitter is replacing RSS especially for real time feeds and it would be a real
shame if RSSOwl were left behind.
I have written a free localhost RSS server for Twitter. It works well with RSSOwl.
It is called Subhash TweetsToRSS Server. It also HTML interface that can be used from a browser.
Interesting idea indeed. I think a twitter account could easily be displayed
like a single feed in the list and each entry would be a tweet. Its already
possible to add new types of feeds to RSSOwl through the plugin mechanism
(e.g. you could add a new bookmark with the url twitter://username and the
plugin would be responsible to load the content).
The OAuth is harder to solve though. Do you know if thats the only option for
it isn't necessary to use OAuth to get the status of a twitter user:
