1.1 No longer can use WinGate Proxy

Help

  • On Windows XP RSSOwl appears to be no longer able to negotiate access through a WinGate proxy.

This worked perfectly in 1.0.2. Exactly the same settings now result in 407 Access denied errors.

Has the method of obtaining proxy access been changed?

    Cheers

    • Yes, RSSOwl 1.1 is using Apache's HttpClient library for all access to the internet. But it is supporting proxy connections.

Is it a proxy that requires username and password?

    • Yes - the WinGate Proxy uses username password authentication. Other applications such as Firefox & Thunderbird have no problem negotiating access through this proxy - neither did RSSOwl 1.0.2.

      Cheers Jono.

      • Please open a bugreport on this issue. Thanks!

    • Implemented Debug Mode into RSSOwl and uploaded a 1.1.1 preview:

      http://rssowl.org/dl/Integration_Build/rssowl_win32_1_1_1_2005_03_31_bin.zip

Please run RSSOwl from the console using:
      "java -Dnet.sourceforge.rssowl.debug -jar rssowl.jar"

All connection-related information is logged into the ".rssowl/logs" folder in your user.home directory (usually "C:/Documents and Settings/your.name") into the file "debug.log".
