On Windows XP RSSOwl appears to be no longer able to negotiate access through a WinGate proxy.
This worked perfectly in 1.0.2. Exactly the same settings now result in 407 Access denied errors.
Has the method of obtaining proxy access been changed?
Yes, RSSOwl 1.1 is using Apache's HttpClient library for all access to the internet. But it is supporting proxy connections.
Is it a proxy that requires username and password?
Yes - the WinGate Proxy uses username password authentication. Other applications such as Firefox & Thunderbird have no problem negotiating access through this proxy - neither did RSSOwl 1.0.2.
Please open a bugreport on this issue. Thanks!
Implemented Debug Mode into RSSOwl and uploaded a 1.1.1 preview:
Please run RSSOwl from the console using:
"java -Dnet.sourceforge.rssowl.debug -jar rssowl.jar"
All connection-related information is logged into the ".rssowl/logs" folder in your user.home directory (usually "C:/Documents and Settings/your.name") into the file "debug.log".
