RSSOwl crashes on LiveJournal sites [linux]

  • I have finally been able to get the internal browser to work in Linux (Ubuntu Breezy Badger, with Sun JRE 1.5), as per the instructions, however I'm having problems with certain sites (specifically, LiveJournal sites).

The feed loads up fine, but when I click on an item for it to be shown in the browser RSSOwl crashes. I'm using RSSOwl 1.2 RC1. I think that it has something to do with scripting (however can't be too sure).

I get the following error in the terminal:

An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine:

    SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0xb01a9bf7, pid=9791, tid=3084732096

Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.5.0_05-b05 mixed mode, sharing)

    Problematic frame:

    C []

An error report file with more information is saved as /tmp/hs_err_pid9791.log

    My script:
    export MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox
    cd /usr/opts/rssowl/

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks - Daniel

    • Hi Daniel,

I guess the problem here is Firefox. It might work with some sites, but its not supported officially. Could you please try with Mozilla Suite 1.7 for instance?

Thanks, that worked. I was hoping not to install Mozilla. Cheers!
