I've now summoned up the nerve to make public my first go at a simple ROX
app for others to try out if willing. This is at
It is a very simple app front-end for compiling 'C' programs contained in a
single source file.
I assumed tgz is OK as it was the default produced by the Archive app.
By default you just drag a 'C' source file to the app icon and it will try
to use GCC to produce a result which it puts into a file called 'RunImage'
in the same directory as the source. (This name can be changed if you alter
a settings file inside the app.) There is a help file that gives more info.
Works here on the new laptop. But no doubt there are things I don't know
that may cause snags for others.
I have included the source code for the app inside the app directory so
people can check it is safe to run. (Also as an example of the kind of
source it will compile.)
I know it is fairly poorly written as I'm not much of a programmer, so no
need to tell me that! But it does something I find useful, so thought it
might be a good example for asking if others also find that it works on
their machines. Hence I'd be grateful if one or two people could try it and
let me know if it actually works for them as well. If I get over this
hurdle I'll go on to try making some apps that are genuinely of some use to
Also makes a change from puzzling over the pinboard. :-)
