Some time back, someone posted complaining of severe instability in OroboROX. I was very surprised as I've been running v 0.9.7.9 since it came out, without a sniff of a problem (under Mdk 10.1). Recently I did a quick install on a new machine to see how it would behave, still using Mdk 10.1 but for laziness I decided to use ROXall. Now I understand the problem :( It takes very little to crash OroboROX. Opera 8.5 cannot run at all, Open Office 2.0 crashes it under various circumstances and it just falls over for no apparent reason. The rest of ROX seems the be OK, but I now don't know how to change window managers to see if others have the same problems. -- W J G |

Remove all the Oroborox interfaces, restart rox session, it will try to install Oroborox, instead of OK, Canel then you can choose your own WM |

I now have OroboROX fully stable again. I would be interested to know just what it is that causes the problem. Is it in fact OroboROX itself, or is it some interfacing problem? -- W J G |

I tend to stear clear of 0install aswell, as I use a diverse collection of systems, {Net,Free,Open}BSD, Linux, i686, amd64, sparc, ppc all with the same shared home direcory. But then I guess 0install isn't really aimed ad users like myself..if only everything was written in python :) then it would be a viable option. |
