Through trial and error, I have found a consistent way to start a ROX
Desktop and panel in enlightenment 0.16.7.
First, I tried using REMEMBER SETTINGS, but this caused random icons to show
as not found (RED X) on restart. So, I did the following.
1) copied enlightenment xinit file from /etc/X11/xinit to home.
2) edited it so that ROX loads prior to enlightenment.
3) symlinked ~/.xinitrc to xinitrc.e
4) extra stuff. I use two displays, so by changing the DISPLAY environment
variable, I am able to load a ROX desktop in each screen mutually exclusive
(note I use different names for the pinboard and panels). Obviously, anyone
with only one display can skip the resetting of the DISPLAY variable and
extra ROX command.
(preamble, system specific X loading stuff omitted)
# this is for display :0.0
rox -p Default -b Default &
# now, I set for display :0.1 to load the second instance of ROX
rox -p Default1 -b Default1 &
# back to display :0.0 to load the WM.
# Start the window manager:
FWIW, I tried using enlightenment's REMEMBER SETTINGS to autoload ROX on
startup, but it did not work for me. Several icons in the Panel and Filer
showed up as RED X and the startup SEEMED to be trying to load ROX twice.
Since I did not understand what or where the problem was, I just went to
the startup script.
I have successfully used a similar approach with xfce's window manager, and
I imaging this approach would work with any support WMs.

Could you add these hints to the wiki? There's a page here:
