I just thought I would announce yet another applet by your friends at
This one is rox-rpn. From the webpage:
rox-rpn is an RPN calculator for the ROX desktop. It is fairly
featureful, having most of the common scientific and trigonmetric
functions. Also, you can view the top 3 items of the stack and do
primitive operations such as swapping, editing, and deleting.
This applet/application is available from http://www.metabocks.com/rox
I hope you enjoy it! I wrote this mainly for myself, but I thought
other people could use the joy of RPN and so I submit it for public
consumption. If you have any ideas to better improve rox-rpn, please
let me know.
If you don't know what an RPN calculator is, please download this, or
browse the source and read the README file. I promise you'll love it!
Also, I have begun work on something that will really help rox. I call
it rox-drawers. It allows you to have "drawers" on the rox-panel. I
mean drawers in the since that XFCE has Drawers. They are like menu's,
and you can tear them off and move them around. I'm making these things
drag and drop editable, and also, mousing over a folder in them gives
you a sub-menu of the contents. Clicking on an item or folder will view
it just as rox would! And best of all, I'm making provisions for a
special sort of drawer that... are you ready for this... is the GNOME
menu! That's right, drawers to conserve space on the rox-panel and
GNOME's Menu all in one python Applet. I don't know how long until it
will be finished, but I promise you it will be in the very near future.
Also, on the front of rox-tasklist, that last release has a bunch of
memory leaks in them. I'm currently working to correct the problem and
should have a leak-free, rox solid (get it?) release of the tasklist up
and running soon.
Stay Tuned to your rox-users mailing list for more upcoming stuff from
me and John!

Nice; now I won't have to run dc in an xterm anymore :-)
The error reporting could use work, though! (eg, -1 sqrt), and it would be
nice to allow '1sin<Enter>' instead of '1<Enter>sin<Enter>'...
Oh, and multi-level undo/redo, and ... ;-)
I've put links on the news and applets pages... thanks!
