I have another enhancement suggestion. When the mouse cursor resides over a file or directory, after a certain wait period (2 seconds, for example), pop up a tooltip type box with key info about the file. It would save the user from having to right-click and choose Properties. For example, a file info box could display something like this: Filename: File.xyz Filetype: Mime Type File Size: #,###,###b/kb/mb/gb File Owner: name File Permissions: rwx, rwx, rwx Change Date: Modify Date: Access Date: Basically most of the stuff Properties already shows. The KDE file manager even pops up an image of the file in miniature in the info box. It would be a nice feature since users with single click access, can't view properties easily. Ctrl-P won't work since the file/dir must be selected still. This feature optionally could have a turn-off in the Options if it is too annoying. Sorry to be a pest. -- Do not reply to this email address. It is a spam trap and not monitored. If you wish to contact me, please use pete4abw at comcast dot net. |

If you mouse over a symlink, a tooltip type box will show "Symbolic link to ..." after a second or two. I just thought it would be a nice option to have the same thing occur with file properties. The whole benefit of using a mouse is lost when you must do Ctrl-P. And, for single click users, you can't left-click on the icon without opening it. -- Do not reply to this email address.
