Launch 0.3.0 (This provides facilities for launching URLs.) has been
You can install it by entering this URL into AddApp:
- Right click on the application and choose 'Versions...' from the menu.
- Click on 'Refresh all now'.
- Ensure 'Help test new versions' is selected.
For more information, including package downloads, see:
Changes in 0.3.0:
Launch has undergone a major re-write.
The system of recording which applications are to be used for each scheme
has been changed to use the shared system now used by the SVN versions of
ROX-Lib and ROX-Filer ($XDG_CONFIG_HOME/rox.sourceforge.net/URI). The old
configuration system, using ROX-Lib's options system, is no longer
used except to migrate the user's settings over to the new system the
first time it is run.
(Question, is it worth having the filer able to run Launch in config mode
from the options, like MIME-Editor is run to set up file types? If so, what
part of the config?)

Some odd things:
- It's quite confusing the first time you run it, because the scheme
drop-down is empty. Perhaps we should include some defaults (http,
ftp, etc) so at least people can see what kind of thing to add there.
- The drop-box shows a "?" the first time you run it (no URI config
directory), and a picture of a directory if there is an empty one.
- Having to click 'Apply' is annoying, and easy to forget. Dropping at
least should do it automatically. For the text, perhaps when you press
return, or after a two-second delay or something?
- A Help button would be nice...
- The separator looks ugly (I've no idea why GTK defaults to including
one, but I do set_has_separator(False) automatically whenever
constructing a dialog).
