I've been using the stable version of ROX-Filer in Debian (woody) linux
now for several months, and can't thank the developers enough for
building a file manager that is intuitive, modifiable, fast and doesn't
consume all memory and/or crash regularly. ROX-filer is the holy grail
of desktop tools in my opinion: it makes X more that just a pretty place
where you have to open a gaggle of xterms to get things done. If you
guys need zealots, I'm your man.
On that note, since I began using it I've been employing my skills as a
graphic artist to quickly cook up some art every time I encounter an
oft-used MIME-type without a custom icon. I've now accumulated 40+
pixmaps whose themes conform to the look of the icons already in the
stable version. The largest is 10k bytes and most are 5k or less. I
think they're pretty snazzy, they're desktop-war neutral and expand on
the unique look that makes ROX different from Konquerer, Nautilus et.al.
Let me know if your're interested and I'll submit them. I wanted to warn
people before spamming.
