Well, I think it's about time for another release! The CVS snapshot in ftp is the latest version; if it works for everyone I'll turn it into the 0.1.26 release. ftp://rox.sourceforge.net/pub/rox/ Let me know if there are any problems... I'd like to use the Debian package of rox-filer, but using a release version I'd miss out on the recent enhancements to make the "Do you want to unmount..." dialogs optional. Rather than my adding a patch from git to the deb, is there any chance of a new "upstream" release soon? -- TH * http://www.realh.co.uk |

Any objections to releasing the current master? I see there are some changes on Stephen's branch. Should they be merged? The thumbnail patch seems to duplicate a lot of the code in pixmap_background_thumb() into pixmap_try_thumb(). Can we just reuse the original function? -- Dr Thomas Leonard ROX desktop / Zero Install GPG: 9242 9807 C985 3C07 44A6 8B9A AE07 8280 59A5 3CC1 |

The new CVS release works fine for me. I'm pleased with the new pinboard text drawing options, though I think it'd be even better if you could also specify the text colour to be used as an option, so that you could choose a colour which contrasts well with your background image. What does anyone think? Also on the subject of the pinboard, all of the icons appear as separate windows on my window manager (Window Maker) menu. This means that when I press 'Alt-Tab' to cycle through open windows, it cycles through the icons too, bringing them to the top etc. Is this a Window Maker specific problem? (It also happens with the gnome file manager but not with KDE) How can you 'hide' windows from the window manager to solve it? James -- James Kermode ja...@ke... http://www.kerm.freeserve.co.uk |

Get it from here: http://sourceforge.net/project/filelist.php?group_id=7023 Note: Please upgrade to GTK+ 1.2.8 or later - earlier versions are buggy and may cause the filer to crash when using the 'spring opening' directories feature. Changes: Added 'spring-loaded' directories. If you drag a file over a directory and hold it there, the directory will spring open! (suggested by Barney Clarkson) Added a popup menu of commonly used chmod strings to the Permissions box. Bug fix: Mount points on the pinboard didn't always redraw when the mounted/unmounted state changed. Renaming now uses the action windows. This means that you can now rename something onto another filesystem. The menu key bindings are now only saved if they actually changed. Tab and Shift-Tab move to next and previous selected item. The new display styles can now be saved as the defaults (bug spotted by Vladimir Klebanov). The toolbar Up and Home buttons can act as drop targets (and spring open too!). Options to set the pinboard text background style (suggested by James Kermode). Added tooltips to some of the options. Dragging near the edge of a window scrolls. Improved the lasso box drag to use the same system (so it scrolls without you having to move the mouse). In the path entry minibuffer, an exact match is favoured over any other match. So, if you enter '.xsession' and press Return you'll get it, not '.xsession-errors' or whatever! Enjoy, Thomas Leonard -- ta...@us... The ROX desktop (free/GPL) : http://rox.sourceforge.net |

What does anyone think? OK, I've added this and committed it to CVS. I've also made the timeout for the spring-open feature configurable. The other change is the use of the short form of --version in install.sh and a configure check for unsetenv() as not everyone has it (Mattias Engdegard). The CVS snapshot should automatically update every 24 hours now - let me know if it stops working.... Thomas Leonard -- ta...@us... The ROX desktop (free/GPL) : http://rox.sourceforge.net |
