I discovered ROX through the recent Slashdot article. Great stuff.
This is just what free Unix systems need. So anyway I wrote a little
app that I figured I'd go ahead and announce. It's a theme selector for
GTK. Revolutionary idea, I know. I know Gnome has one but I don't use
Gnome. And besides I thought it'd be nice to have a ROX style one. So
anyway it is at <http://www.duckbrain.com/GTKThemeSelector.tgz>. It's
sort of modelled after the Wallpaper program. You can drag theme
archives onto it to install them, drag theme directories onto it to
select them, etc. There's a README file with it that explains all that.
If you find any bugs or have feature requests please let me know.
OK now I have a few questions, if I may...
1. I am new to both GTK and pygtk. Most of GTKThemeSelector is written
in Python but there is a small amount of C because I could not figure
out how to refresh the themes for currently running GTK apps in Python.
If anyone knows how to do this please let me know so I can switch that
C code over to Python.
2. I think I'm gonna write a GTK email client for ROX in Python. What
style of storing mail messages is most appropriate for ROX? Should I
use regular Unix mail files (/var/mail/user), should I make a "Mail"
directory in the user's home directory, or should I use the Choices
system to make a directory for storing mail?
