Hi I found a memory leak. Just, the bookmarks menu is never destroyed. |

Hi I found massive memory leak reaching several GB easily. Step: Drag a file and move on Chromium Browser(49.0.2623.87). then memory usage increases the size of the file or more. (OS:Arch Linux) Is it Chromium's bug or rox? thanks. |

Hi I found major memory leak. In view_collection.c static void view_collection_destroy(GtkObject *view_collection) { VIEW_COLLECTION(view_collection)->filer_window = NULL; } It lacks parent call. So the collection is never destroyed. Also details. https://github.com/jun7/rox-filer/commit/8b7626004527323ec7243a565a9d76a31f3a3322 In passing https://github.com/jun7/rox-filer/commit/c8a685c97515c42ab0096e5730dbd01083befa01 |

Hi I thought up what is good pointer warp with window re-size? Yes, it is absolutely annoying but re-size is already and good. So I coded it and tested. (lower half is it) https://github.com/jun7/rox-filer/commit/76501eb23d2cdc697c96a845e33278c07e6c1c14 It is good I think because I can batter the Up or Size whatever without to mind miss click. Don't you calculate size and position before click the tool buttons? Thanks. |

Hi I found a bug. just: if(set->flags & SET_STYLE) { tmp=g_strdup_printf("%d", set->show_thumbs); xmlNewChild(sub, NULL, "ShowThumbs", tmp); g_free(tmp); } It is in filer.c. So without set_style is checked, the thumbs setting is never saved. |

Sorry, used an outdated version of ROX-Lib2 - it had already been fixed. @Thomas: I've just joined rox-desktop (thanks for the invitation!), and put rox-lib there. When selecting entries from the TreeView in the options box, the application crashes in OptionsBox.py:261 (change_page()). Fixed this by referencing the selection object as it seems to have already been garbage collected when the signal handler is called. See attached patch. (BTW: Any plans on putting ROX-Lib on GitHub, so I could fork it?) |

Hi, I found some bugs I think. 1. ROX saves calculated display_style as a current display setting. It is not a user's setting. I think it should be display_style_wanted. Like this: https://github.com/jun7/rox-filer/commit/5e56c609c3374436bc5f394c6d8b031e96d64378 2. Lack of convert to realpath in the code creating relative sym links. Even the `from' contains links, the code generating relative path doesn't care it. 3. Window auto-move of the auto-resize points wrong coordinate. It doesn't contain window decoration. In fluxbox and openbox, ROX wills slide down because of it. 4. Relating 3, most window managers manage the behavior of re-size by their own role and they knows docks and taskbars. So it should be left for window managers. I've tried to fix 3 and 4 like this: https://github.com/jun7/rox-filer/commit/13728647e0a5215013a8456732be6c8b33008923 In addition, I've made some other changes too. could I send pull request? |

It feels like clicking on the text in any column should select and it feels strange when it doesn't. How about making it so that dragging from any text or icon works as before, but clicking in the empty space in any table cell starts a lasso? I think that might be more natural. Can you attach gdb to it once it hangs? I can't anymore, because it works now - I went back to Debian Sid's stock kernel in the meantime, and don't have any problems any more. Before that, I had a Liquorix kernel, maybe they tuned a bit too much there. Regards, David |

Hi, on the off chance that this mailing list is still active: Attached you find a tiny patch that changes selection events in details mode so that only clicks on the name or icon initiate actions on the file and that all other columns count as background for the purposes of filer_perform_action. That makes lasso selection MUCH easier, without that change you have to aim for some few pixels "between" the files. Beware, I know basically nothing about C or GTK, so this is more of a demo than anything else, but it works and does not appear to introduce any problems. Furthermore, a bug report: According to strace, rox-filer hangs on listxattr when browsing NFS directories or directories that contain symlinks into or mountpoints for them. (Unless xattr is disabled, of course.) I don't know if that's a problem of rox-filer or of the library you use, but I guess you're using an obsolete call there or something like that because the bug was introduced without changes in rox-filer. Regards, David PS: If this list and project are dead, that's sad - RF is still the best light-weight file manager for Linux. |

Hi, I'm using Debian Jessie, Openbox, powerpc, and Rox-filer installed from the official repositories. When I have the pinboard enabled with "rox --pinboard=MyPinBoard" and "Pass all backdrop mouse clicks to window manager" checked in Options --> Compatibility, I get a window focus bug. After right-clicking on the desktop to bring down the Openbox menu to launch Rox-filer, a Rox window opens and the first left-click in it unfocuses the window. When the first click after opening Rox is right or middle click, the Openbox menus appear. It's as though the first click goes right through to the desktop. This only happens when I launch Rox-filer by right-clicking on the desktop to launch via the Openbox menu. When I bring up the Openbox menu with a keybinding and launch Rox, the bug doesn't happen. When I launch Rox-filer from a terminal window the bug doesn't happen. When I kill the pinboard, the bug disappears as well. "aptitude show rox-filer" returns version 2.11-1. Regards, Dan |

Hi there I have made some changes to rox-filer that are useful to me and may be of interest to the community. These include: Extended attributes browser. For adding, modifying and removing extended attributes on files (restricted to the user namespace). Label support. For colorizing any icon based on the value of its "user.label" extended attribute, which can be set using the browser. Other minor changes: Reworked icons for symlink and extended attributes present. Fixed some minor memleaks. Upgraded some deprecated functions to new versions. Copying preserves extended attributes by default if supported. Etc. All can be found in my fork of the rox-filer project at github: https://github.com/seirios/rox-filer I haven't tested any of these changes on a system other than mine, so be ready to find bugs... Hope you like it! Cheers! Sirio Bolaños Puchet |

But what I ended up doing was using 0install to download the source to Rox. In the end it seemed simpler. What I now need is a clue as to where in the source the default icon size for the pinboard is set. Looked through the pinboard file but I probably missed it. |

I am trying to change the default pinboard icon size in Rox - but first I am having troubles compiling. Configure gives me the following error: checking that pkg-config runs... yes checking that sm (version >= 1) is installed... no configure: error: Package is not installed Exactly what is package "sm" ? Thanks |

Someone asked about sending pull requests for ROX-Filer. The old repo.or.cz site is looking a bit dated/dead now, so I've moved the ROX-Filer Git repository to GitHub: https://github.com/rox-desktop/rox-filer -- Dr Thomas Leonard http://0install.net/ GPG: 9242 9807 C985 3C07 44A6 8B9A AE07 8280 59A5 3CC1 GPG: DA98 25AE CAD0 8975 7CDA BD8E 0713 3F96 CA74 D8BA |

The problem isn't that I'm making a mistake when I select; the problem is that ctrl/x may have been sent errantly. Say believing the focus is on an emacs window for instance, but the focus is in a filer. ROX deletion should be as surefooted as 'rm' in a terminal window; and as it stands, it is not. Perhaps assuring that a filer window has received an actual EnterNotify and no LeaveNotify in order to respond to a keyboard delete short cut rather than simply having the focus. -- Christopher Oliver <cur...@gm...> |

Resetting it when the window loses focus seems reasonable.
