If I start ROX 2.1.0 in pinboard mode to manage my
desktop, I can no longer switch desktops by scrolling
my mouse-wheel using OpenBox 3.1 as my WM. I am having
ROX pass through all clicks to the WM, but it seems
that the mouse-wheel gets doubled. Each time I turn it
by one notch, Openbox jumps *two* desktops. This does
not happen when ROX is not in pinboard mode.

    Maybe openbox intercepts the mouse clicks itself. What
    happens if you turn off button forwarding?

    If i turn off click forwarding, right clicking the root
    window opens ROX's menu, middle clicking opens Openbox's
    middle click menu.

    My current work-around is to have three virtual desktops so
    that if I skip forward two, I'm still able to reach all of them.

    BTW mouse wheel behaviour is not changed if I turn off click
    forwarding. All turnings of the wheel are still doubled

    Do you have your scroll wheel bound to
    DesktopUp/DesktopDown, DesktopRight/DesktopLeft, or
    DesktopNext/DesktopPrevious? Does it find all four desktops
    if you bind the same action to a key combo?

    Hmm... I haven't changed the binding from OpenBox's default.

    <mousebind button="A-Up" action="Click">
    <action name="DesktopPrevious"/>
    </mousebind>
    <mousebind button="A-Down" action="Click">
    <action name="DesktopNext"/>
    </mousebind>

    I have reduced the numer of Desktops to 3 (so that I can
    reach all of them using only my mouswheel). If I use
    C-A-Left and C-A-Right (DesktopLeft and DesktopRight) I can
    accesss all my desktops.

    When using the mousewheel I can see one desktop flicker by
    quickly before the second click (created by ROX) is registered.

    BTW same behaviour with Openbox 3.2

    Was this solved by removing the extra pointer section from
    XF86Config?

    No, this problem still exists. I only have one pointer entry
    in my xorg.conf :-(

    Thanks a lot! This fixed it!! Is this default setting for
    openbox a misconfiguration (that should be reported to the
    OpenBox mainainers)?
