I am a brand new user but quite stuck.
I am trying to enter notes from a keyboard.
However when i see the results in notation it indeed shows the notes but also a load of rests (mostly small) which i need to eliminate and subsequently correct length of recorded notes.
I have found no way to do this unfortunately but i believe there must be a way!
I realise it is trying to respect the time signature and this maybe makes it impossible to delete these erroneous rests.
I wonder if there is a way to STOP the adherence to the time signature allowing me to easily arrange the score? (at least until i allow it to check the bars i have written...)
Or is there another way to work?

To change the length of recorded notes quickly, select one and use Ctrl+[1-8]
to change its duration in place. (Ctrl+1 for whole note, Ctrl+8 for 8th note,
and so forth...)
To clean up the extra rests when you're done, select one or more bars and use
Ctrl+N to "normalize rests."

While time signatures can be hidden, I think there must always be some kind of
time signature in effect. I'm a little rusty on this, since I normally work
in 4/4 and little else.
Rosegarden uses automatically-calculated rests to fill up negative space, so
if you want to get rid of rests, fill up the negative space.
