I got this error message:
Failed to connect to JACK audio server.
Rosegarden could not connect to the JACK audio server. This probably means the J
ACK server is not running.
If you want to be able to play or record audio files or use plugins, you should
exit Rosegarden and start the JACK server before running Rosegarden again.
This is in spite of having Rosegarden configured to start jack like so
/usr/bin/jackd -R -d alsa -d hw -r 44100 -p 2048 -n 2
when Rosegarden starts. It turns out that I can't start jackd in
realtime mode. This is because I changed my /etc/modprobe.preload
based on the recommendations of installing a new multimedia kernel
from the Mandriva contrib repository. I'll put the modprobe.preload
back, and I think that will fix things.
But, it would be even nicer if Rosegarden would tell me that it tried
to start jackd, but it didn't succeed. This would have saved me some
