I'm using the 2.6.11-0.3.rdt.rhfc3.ccrma kernel. I run qjackctl (as root)
successfully, but neither rosegarden nor qsynth will connect to the jack
I think it has something to do with file privilages/ownership, but I don't
know where to start.
Can someone please help?

I can only help generally, because I haven't gotten around to playing with
this stuff on the 2.6 kernels yet.
Your problem is that you're running QJackCtl as root, but trying to run
Rosegarden and friends as your user. You can't do that. The apps won't be
able to connect to JACK. You have to run everything as root, or everything
as your user. The way to handle this is to enable "capabilities" and then
run everything (including JACK) as your user, giving these things root
privileges through the "capabilities" mechanism as necessary to make the
whole thing fly.
I just don't know how to turn on capabilities on a 2.6 kernel off hand. I
*think* it's a module you can insert, if your kernel was compiled correctly.
modprobe rtcap or something like that. I'll bet Google knows for sure.

I'm running on 2.6 - check out realtime-lsm.sf.net.
After you build and install it, run as root "/sbin/modprobe realtime
any=1" and you'll be as hooked up as it gets on 2.6.
Note that CCCRMA might already have the realtime mod - maybe try the
