I caused the problem myself by enabling JACK synchronization in the
sequencer setup. Changing to "ignore JACK..." fixed the looping
problem. Is there a way for me to get JACK synchronization to work?
Better yet, is it required for best accuracy timing of audio tracks
with MIDI tracks? FWIW, I'm starting jackd when Rosegarden starts
/usr/bin/jackd -R -d alsa -d hw -r 44100 -p 2048 -n 2
