I've scrubbed it up a bit -- should be more helpful now. I don't
think I changed any translated strings.
If you have any MIDI files with non-ASCII texts in them available to
test with, please have a go at it.

I just tried one. The dialog looks a lot more compact. For my file the new choice was ISO-8559-1 (Western Europe) before it was defaulting to mulelea-1 for the file. It appeared to work with either. But there wasn't much text to base this on.
I don't typically encounter this dialog, though. I only had the one file that I knew invoked the dialog.
