Thanks to the developers and maintainers. I would like to use RG for
composition and playback; I currently have no keyboard. My pc is:
AMD Athlon64 512MB RAM
Fedora Core3 (64)
Soundblaster 16 (live)
Rosegarden, fluidsynth (timidity, too) and Jack all compiled and
jackd -d alsa starts OK (as long as fluidsynth is not running)
fluidsynth -m alsa_seq ./mustheory2.sf2 starts OK (as long as jackd is
rosegarden always starts with this error:
WARNING: Rosegarden::Exception: "Couldn't open
I can find no OS reason for this warning.
Rosegarden does start, I see the gui but it does not seem to see
fluidsynth or its instruments. I'm at a loss, any help greatly appreciated.

It's almost certainly not a real problem, most likely just a warning
from the sequencer process starting up marginally before the GUI
process has data ready for it.

Can you send us the contents of the detailed sequencer status? It's
found at Settings -> Configure Rosegarden... -> Sequencer -> Show
I would say though that other users have reported problems on 64-bit
You may be seeing the same thing. It's probably something incredibly
simple, but as none of the developers have access to a 64 bit machine
yet, we haven't exactly got far with it.
