Do you mean that the format of the string is Rosegarden terminology or that your particular meaning of "instrument" is Rosegarden terminology? If the latter, it seems confusing given that "MIDI-program name" could be argued to be closer in meaning to "musical-instrument name" than is the entity referred to as "Creative SBLive! 8MB Soundfont #2". Is there no alternative to "instrument" ? > "Acoustic Grand Piano" is a program. So changing a track to use a particular musical instrument is a two-stage procedure which involves (1) assigning programs to instruments in the IPB thus effectively setting up MIDI program names next to the instruments in the second-level popup menus in the track-list, (2) using the nested menus in the track-list on every track you want to change to use a particular program. I've tried this procedure a few times and it seems very long-winded. It's slow having to setup the program-instrument assignments in the IPB. Without first having to go through using the IPB, how can I get a menu of all 128 MIDI program names (preferably without any other text next to the program names) which I can popup on any track in the track-list area whenever I want to change that particular track to use a particular program? >> I cannot use "Show Segment and Instrument Parameters" on the >> Settings menu because it is disabled (greyed out). > > That suggests that the instrument parameter box is already visible. > Is it? It's a box labelled "Instrument parameters", just so you know. Yes, the IPB is and always has been visible. How can I make the IPB hidden? That was a really detailed explanation. Thanks a lot.
