If you go to Rosegarden's Manage MIDI Devices dialog (from the Studio menu), what does it list? There are various troubleshooting possibilities, depending on what you see in that dialog. First possibility is that the Midisport is simply not configured correctly at the ALSA driver level. If you don't see it listed in the device dialog (as a device with a name like "MIDI external device" with a connection that refers to the external USB Midisport) then this is likely the case. Of course, if you have been using the device already with other software on SuSE then that's less likely. Either way, say so and we can take it from there. Second possibility is that the device is working but simply isn't the one your events are being sent to. This would be likely if the device was listed in the dialog but wasn't the first device in it (perhaps a built-in soundcard's MIDI out might appear first). In that case, all you should have to do is switch your tracks over to an instrument on the right device (via the right-button menu on the track label). Chris |
