Sorry I am still struggling with this on AIX.  I can't find anything that will change the outcome.

Do you have any other idea's or have an idea for a workaround on AIX?

You could also try changing the awk 'print' statement to 'print $0'. The
$0 should be implied, but maybe not in AIX.
