Not being very familiar with gentoo, I can't tell from that how fftw2 is
being configured.. Try unemerging any version of fftw and downloading
fftw v2's source and configure yourself just to rule this in or out as
being the problem. You shouldn't need any special configure flags when
you configure fftw.. then either download rezound yourself or emerge it..
However, your stack trace that you sent me doesn't look to be having the
problem related to fftw, but, when you're talking about stack
corruption, it could still be fftw corrupting the stack (because the
type sizes are wrong) and the real fireworks don't show up till later.
