Hi.

There's a noise filter in audacity that I find very
useful because its simplicity and good results. It
let's you select a region of noise, then it computes a
filter that you can apply to a entire sound affected by
that noise. It works really good to eliminate noises
like the tape hiss.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I don't know of any other gpl code that implements that
kind of filter.

Bernardo

    Check out http://gwc.sourceforge.net

This app is specifically designed for noise removal. The
author has a library version of his code out. I've got a
src tree that uses it, but it's very minimal. If you think
his gwc app does a good job. Bug him about continuing work
on his library (or at least raising it on his priority list).

    I'd love to use it.

    Thanks,
    Davy
