I have rewritten much of the old Registry Editor PE code. What was once a single script with a lot of functions is now a library of functions driven by a driver. My goal is to have two drivers.
1.) A minimal user interface. Basically the boot splash screen and that is about it. If more than one fixed disk is present, the user is asked to select the one to be edited. The user is no longer prompted for the location of the registry hives or user profiles (unless they cannot be programmatically discovered). As of SVN version #14, the executable is working though the driver does not perform error checking yet.
2.) A user interface with dropdown menus, possibly a tabbed interface, help section. Still in development.
After about two years without development on the v0.x branch, I have begun development of v1.x build.
There are a couple of new things I would like to do in this build, such as improve the interface and make it easier than ever to use. I'll also look into whether or not I have to do anything different to work with Vista.
I have also been working with SVN for about a year now, and I prefer it over CVS. So, all of the source code will be publickly accessible from the SourceForge SVN server.... read more
