    Hi,

great software, but perhaps there are two small bugs

    - the BibTeX field "file"  seems not to be imported in the database (file column)
    - it is not possible to export all records as BibTeX, only a blank page appears

is there a workaround for this problems?

    greetings
    Christof

  • The file import issue does not really seem to be a bug to me: no import formats support populating that field and we don't offer a way to upload pdfs during import. You should review your logs about the export issue. That can arise because of a time out or memory limit.

    Hi,

thank you karnesky, I think I found the source of both errors…

There  were the "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to
allocate 64 bytes) in …/refbase/includes/classes/org/active-link/xml/Tree.php on line 46

    A  ini_set('memory_limit', '-1'); in Tree.php solved the problem (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/415801/allowed-memory-size-of-33554432-bytes-exhausted-tried-to-allocate-43148176-byte)

If I use the BibTeX Tag "url" instead of "file" the PDF-Links are imported and works fine. In JabRef there seems to be no strict separation "between" file and "url" attribute. In JabRef you can use "http://…" in "file". Perhaps it was fine to check this on imports.

Yes-and-no.  JabRef does handle the two a bit differently (but allows for you to retain the format of BibTeX imported into it).  http:// file links do work in refbase as well, but we don't import them yet.  Perhaps we should, though this would probably need happen outside of the bibutils conversion & I'm not sure, off-hand, if it will be less bad to import remote file links and ignore local file links than to just ignore all file links.  Definitely worth considering, though.
