Subject: [rdesktop-users] Problems MacOS X users experience when
From the experiences I have had, and from archived messages in the=20
lists I think most problems MacOS X users are experiencing with=20
compiling rdesktop source code can be summarised with a couple of steps.
First of all, MacOS X does not come complete with the standard set of=20
headers and compilers one expects with most Unix derivatives. This=20
includes such essentials as make and gcc/ cc (without either of those=20
packages you cannot install the other) and includes.
The problems I have observed range from having a built app with screwed=20
up key mappings to errors during ./configure or make that relate to=20
headers being absent.
Therefore before compiling you will need to:
1. Install the MacOS X Developer Tools, which will install gcc and make.
2. Install XFree86 (the latest version) from the Apple site. This will=20
install the necessary includes.
Then run ./configure, make and make install as su.
Note: Installing X11 will not install the include files required for=20
compiling X source code. and Project Builder does not appear to use X11=20
headers so that won't work either.
If I am wrong on any of the points I am certain I will be corrected :)
